| In many developing countries,
the cost of sugar production is not competitive in a global economy.
However there is a need for electricity and ethanol as fuel for domestic
consumption. To meet this requirement an Energy Cane Sugar Plant can be
considered and built.
In an Energy Cane Sugar Plant, raw sugar, refined sugar, value-added specialty sugars, and antioxidants are by-products of the plant. The major products are electricity and ethanol as fuel for local consumption. The process flow diagram for such a plant is shown below.
